Simple, Smart, Sweet Potato

Any way you slice it, this is one terrific food!

One of the most perfect foods, the sweet potato is extremely nutritious, it’s delicious, it’s extra easy to cook, it stores well, it’s available everywhere, and it’s cheap.    Sweet potatoes are definitely on my list of foods to be considered staple, regular items to be kept on hand for ready use.  Save money, be healthy, enjoy life – eat sweet potatoes!

Sometimes people call sweet potatoes yams.  Although there’s a difference between sweet potatoes and yams, in the United States the things people call yams are sweet potatoes.  If you’re in Africa, they might be two different things.

Sweet potatoes are one of the most nutritious foods you can eat!

Talk about versatile!  You could eat sweet potatoes for breakfast, lunch and dinner for a week and not have them prepared the same way twice!

The easiest thing to do with them is just put them on the rack in your oven and bake them for about an hour or so at 350 degrees, just till they are tender.  They will keep all week in your refrigerator, and you can carry them around for lunchs, grab one for a snack, eat them cold, or reheat them.  SO easy, so quick, so simple, so good for you, and so cheap!  Oh man…  all hail the sweet potato.
